Bombay: Reliance New Energy Solar Limited (RNESL), a 100% subsidiary of Reliance Industries Limited (RIL), and the Danish company Stiesdal A / S (Stiesdal) have signed a cooperation agreement for the technological development and manufacture of HydroGen electrolysers from Stiesdal in India.
The agreement was signed during a state visit from Denmark to India and announced in the presence of Narendra Modi, Indian Prime Minister and Mette Frederiksen, Danish Prime Minister.
Stiesdal was founded by Henrik Stiesdal, a wind power pioneer and thought leader in the global renewable energy industry. Stiesdal is engaged in the development and commercialization of several technologies to counter the climate crisis.
New technology for HydroGen electrolyzers has the potential to significantly reduce costs compared to currently available technologies, paving the way for the rapid decarbonization and commercialization of affordable green hydrogen – a key catalyst for achieving the green energy transition. from India.
Mukesh Ambani, president of Reliance Industries, had announced ambitious plans to create a massive hydrogen electrolyzer manufacturing plant in Jamnagar, Gujarat. Through this agreement, RNESL and Stiesdal will combine their strengths and capabilities and collaborate to advance the technological development of HydroGen electrolyzers and expand it to set up manufacturing facilities.
As part of this agreement, RNESL and Stiesdal also agreed to extend their collaboration to the development and implementation of other innovative climate change technologies, including offshore wind power, fuel cells from new generation for the conversion of hydrogen into electricity for the production of mobile and static electricity, long lasting energy storage and production of negative carbon fuels.
Speaking after signing the agreement, Mukesh Ambani said: “At Reliance, we see this cooperation agreement with Stiesdal as a new opportunity to implement our philosophy of ‘Take care of the planet’ and ‘Take care people. ”This is an important step towards fulfilling our commitment to accelerate India’s transition to green energy by taking advantage of our vast sources of solar energy and developing innovative and cutting-edge technologies to achieve this goal. .We aim to leverage Stiesdal’s impressive climate technology portfolio to serve the Indian market and work together to create this portfolio a global pioneer. In partnership with Stiesdal, we will strive to achieve our stated goal of offering hydrogen energy to less than $ 1 per kg in 1 decade – the 1-1-1 goal for green hydrogen Reliance pledges to make greatest contribution to mission na Hydrogen Festival announced by our Honorable Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Independence Day this year. Our vision is to put India on the global hydrogen map and meet the development aspirations of 1.35 billion Indians. “
Hital Meswani, Executive Director of Reliance Industries, said, “Reliance is committed to realizing its stated ambitions in new energies and accelerating technological development and scaling up of global advanced technologies. We welcome Stiesdal as a partner and look forward to working together to achieve our goals. “
Henrik Stiesdal, CEO of Stiesdal A / S, said: “We are delighted to enter into this agreement with Reliance New Energy Solar Limited, the New Energy platform of India’s largest industrial company. As a company, we are committed to fighting climate change. change, seeking to produce the greatest possible impact in the shortest possible time. For us, there would be no greater impact than seeing our technology scaled up for use in the world’s largest democracy. Low cost hydrogen production is a vital strategic part of the green transition in India and globally, and Reliance Industries has the scope and capacity to increase electrolyser production to required levels.
“We are very much looking forward to developing and expanding our cooperation with Reliance New Energy Solar Limited, not only in the area of hydrogen production, but also in the areas of our other climate technologies. “
HydroGen Electrolyzer technology is developed by Stiesdal PtX Technologies. It is an efficient technology for the production of green hydrogen at a revolutionary cost level. The HydroGen electrolyzer benefits from a combination of innovative solutions and a fully industrialized approach to product design and the achievement of maximum economies of scale both in the output of the electrolyzer unit as well as in the serial production of the electrolyzer itself. Combined with Reliance’s deep expertise in innovation, project execution and operational excellence and its world-class talent pool, this partnership will bring affordable green hydrogen to millions of Indians.
