GKB’s robust machines prove the perfect partner for Premiership Lawncare

A fleet of orange and blue is forming for the Premiership Lawncare team as continued investment allows a bank of equipment from GKB Machines to be trusted to complete projects for a growing range of turf customers from sport.

Over the past two years owners Josef Farrow and Mark Pettit have purchased a Deep Tooth Aerator (DTA), an SP100 topdresser, a dragmat and most recently a GKB Combinator – allowing the team to expand their range services to football and cricket customers. .

Premiership Lawncare prides itself on using the best equipment to meet the wide and varied requirements of domestic, sporting and commercial customers. “We have grown a lot in seven years and now have around 30 cricket clubs on our books, and a very good relationship with a number of clubs under the umbrella of Northampton FA,” explains Josef. “The investment in equipment has been critical and this is where our relationship with GKB has grown stronger.”

Recognizing the need for a larger, more robust aerator to cope with the demands of challenging terrain, Premiership Lawncare became one of the first contractors in the UK to purchase a Deep Tooth Aerator (DTA) nearly 100 years ago. two years. “Our DTA 160 is a fantastic machine! As the name suggests it works up to 12″ deep to break up compaction and is used on all our football jobs including some municipal pitches which could definitely be a problem for machines that aren’t as well built as the DTA.”

“Impressed with this and the service and support we received, we then purchased the GKB Dragmat and an SP100 Sandspreader which fits in the rear of our Toro Workman and was a very good investment. We can put 1.5 tons of sand in it, and thanks to the wide conveyor, the robust discs and the easy adjustment, we get a really precise and fine spreading.”

The latest addition to the fleet is a GKB Combinator, delivered in May 2022 and put straight to work on a football refurbishment project. “With our ever-growing sports turf customer base, we decided the time was right to purchase our own surface stripping machine and after comparing options, the GKB CB120 came out on top. In its first week , it cleared around 80 tonnes of vegetation, which is impressive for a machine that is only 1.2m wide!”

Josef adds: “One particular feature that is great for us is the ability to swap out the cutter blades on our CB120 for scarifier blades, which means we can use it to remove buildup of organic matter in some of our cricket squares. It is already clear that this machine is going to bring real value to our business and it is this kind of investment in quality machines that will help us take our services and business to the next level.”
